Ayurvedic medicinal plants that are traditionally advised and have been shown to be useful against amoebic dysentery are included in AMATI tablets. Connesine, an alkaloid, is one of the constituents in “Amati,” and its effectiveness against Entamoeba histolytica infestation has been demonstrated in the British pharmaceutical codex as well as in a clinical trial conducted at Teku Hospital in Kathmandu. According to the experiment, “Amati” is 97.5% effective in eliminating the formation of cysts and trophozoites. In the same facility, a second blind trial was carried out to compare the allopathic medication metronidazole. Metronidazole was reported to have fewer negative effects when used with amatinib.
